A How To: Candle Making
Making a candle is super easy and you only need a few supplies to get started . We also have a short reel, that Kinley made, to show you that it can be done in about 15-20 minutes - plus cure time.
Some of the supplies have affiliate links to Amazon, where you can by direct. We do receive a small compensation as an Affiliate.
Supplies:
Old Saucepan
Heat-Resistant Pouring Pitcher
Candle Wick (included with wax above)
Fragrance Oils (I use 1oz. bottles from Candle Science)
Steps:
Melt 1 lb. of soy wax in the pitcher over a double boiler set up with the saucepan. Stir occassionally. Heat to 185 degrees F.
When the melted wax is at 185 degrees, add 1 oz. of your favorite fragrance oil.
As the wax cools, place the candle wicks inside the 8 oz. jar, centering the wicks as best as you can. Secure the wicks with pencils, chopsticks, or the centering devices that come with the wax mentioned above.
When the wax has cooled to 135 degrees F, carefully pour into the prepared jars. Move the jars as little as possible, to preserve the smooth texture.
Let the wax cure overnight. Before covering with a lid, or lighting, trim the wick to 1/4 inch above the wax.
Light and Enjoy!!!
